Today is Perfect
While walking around the block two days ago, I watched the people drive by in their cars, staring through their windows. I commented to myself that the day was perfect; thick clouds covered the sun’s brightness, there was a drizzle was in the air, and a slight wind kept me cool. It was a wonderful day.
Yesterday morning I was walking around the block and the sun shined down, warming my skin. The people drove with their same stare, but it felt different – warmer. Then I said to myself, out loud, “This day is perfect.â€
I let the thought and my voice out and it was hanging in my brain. I knew that I said the same thing the day before and now I felt like I said something wrong. How can one day that was cloudy, drizzly and cold be as perfect as a sunny warm day?
Then as the smile creased my face, I appreciated all the hard work I’ve been putting into my life through meditation, yoga, conversations with friends, my writing and all of the mental foundation I’ve been building since my inner improvement journey began.
Every day has its perfection if I take the time to find it. Every hour, minute, and moment has its perfection if I stay aware of the present moment. I’ve been practicing at rewiring my brain to find the beauty in everything around me and it’s worked. It actually worked! Yesterday was as perfect as the day before because I’m anchored in the present moment. And even when my insecurities or fears pop out their ugly head, they scare me for just a few minutes, but even their ugliness has a cuteness that only I could love.
