What Can the Karl Staib RSS Feed Do For You?
I was talking to a friend who’s 27 years of age and he just found out what an RSS feed is. I was surprised to hear this because I expect most people to know this great tool. If he just found out about it then maybe many of you don’t know how it works either.
RSS (which, in its latest format, stands for “Really Simple Syndication”) is a family of web feed formats used to publish frequently updated content such as blog entries, news headlines or podcasts. An RSS document, which is called a “feed”, “web feed”, or “channel”, contains either a summary of content from an associated web site or the full text. RSS makes it possible for people to keep up with their favorite web sites in an automated manner that’s easier than checking them manually.
So basically you can subscribe to my RSS feed and receive my blog entries in an online reader, and like most online gadgets Google makes the best one. Google Reader is my favorite because of its simple design and ease of use. After you sign up for an online reader, then you can click on the RSS feed icon in the upper left hand corner of KarlStaib.com, add my feed and join in on the pursuit toward emotional development.
There are many great blogs out there, so don’t be left behind. Here are my five favorites:
Personal Development
The best on the internet at breaking down a system that you might struggle with like motivation and showing you how to develop it into a strength.
Mind, Body, and Spirit
She has been a great help in leading me to new points of views that have opened my happiness.
Blogging Advice
You may also go to Problogger, but I like Spiritual Blogging because he writes about many of the ideas I’m trying to create.
Business
Seth writes books, blogs, and finds fresh ideas in an overpopulated blog world.
Writing
Angela writes about blogging and using it to accomplish your goals to become a successful writer.
If you know about RSS then join up with the rest of the smart folks trying to pursue their emotional happiness by adding KarlStaib.com feed. That way you won’t miss any thought-provoking action.

July 25th, 2007 at 2:29 amGreat description, and wonderful idea Karl. I know lots of people don’t know what a RSS feed is - I had to set my Mum up with Google reader so she could subscribe to my site, and I’ve set up a friend or two.
I’d suggest putting a link to this post directly underneath the Subscribe buttons in your side bar - with a title like What’s a RSS feed? Or Why do you want to do this? So that when people come to your site and they don’t know what that RSS thingie in your sidebar it… they will click on to this article and find out.
In fact, I had better do something like this on my blog!!!
Thanks for the inspiration.

That’s a great idea to put a link to this blog under the RSS feed. I’m going to work on it this weekend.
Thanks, Karl

Wow — thank you for including my blog in such fantastic company — I’m truly honored!
The link on my comment name here is to a page on one of my blogs called “Little Orange Buttons” — I don’t know that many people use it, but I thought you might like to see my brief explanation of subscription options on my site. It also has a link out to a Feed 101 article.
I’ve corresponded with tons of my by-email readers who had un-subscribed, but then told me they hadn’t dropped the subscription entirely — they’d just discovered that they had options for following the content.
